Artists who have come before us, have written or created literature which is still revered today. Some poets even described their biggest fears as the decay of humanity, and unfortunately some of them have come true.
नए किरदार आते जा रहे हैं,
मगर नाटक पुराना चल रहा है |
(New characters keep coming into the play,
Yet the plot is the same as before)
AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) is known for waving its anti-corruption and communal harmony flag everywhere they go. Sadly, in order to fill their vote bank, they too have succumbed to the manipulation of religion.
Arvind Kejriwal's most recent demand that pictures of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi appear on banknotes may have been dismissed as a political ploy to put the BJP's Hindu hardliners on the defensive. However, when taken in connection with a number of recent AAP policy decisions and remarks, it is clear that the party has firmly sacrificed the liberal premise on the altar of cynical vote-bank politics.
इन से उम्मीद न रख हैं ये सियासत वाले,
ये किसी से भी मोहब्बत नहीं करने वाले।
(Do not have hope for these politicians,
They care for no one)
2020 witnessed riots in Delhi, and Kejriwal did very little to put out the flames because of the fear of being perceived as a supporter of Muslims. The Chief Minister should have parked himself and his MLAs in the afflicted districts as the elected representatives of the people, but instead he chose to sit in Rajghat as northeast Delhi burnt. This comes after Muslims overwhelmingly supported AAP and rejected the Congress, which had been outspoken in its support of the anti-CAA-NRC rallies.
Then, using the nationalist defense, the AAP supported the repeal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. While several opposition parties firmly opposed the action, AAP gave it its full support.
कुर्सी है तुम्हारा ये जनाज़ा तो नहीं है,
कुछ कर नहीं सकते तो उतर क्यों नहीं जाते |
(This is your throne, not your funeral,
If you’re not doing anything, you should step down)
Recently, the terrible silence of AAP leaders on the release of Bilkis Bano's rapists removed any doubt as to the party's commitment to the Hindutva movement, principles be damned. While trying to establish a presence in Gujarat, the very outspoken AAP leaders have been silent on Bilkis.
According to Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP is a party of intelligent people. What use is education if you can't speak up for the protection of women and the right to justice for rape victims?
From the start, Arvind Kejriwal made his religion known; today, he has veered towards obnoxious majoritarianism. Kejriwal now completely relies on the potent concoction of populism and Hindutva to increase his influence across the country.
AAP acts like a real millennial who is neither aware of nor bothered with the ideologies that India was raised with. It deems morals and ideals to be stale and out of date. It talks and understands only the language of votes.
The irony is upon us, because marginalizing other communities for your own benefit has become fodder for votes in a democratic country.
